Huggie Size Guide

Huggie Size Guide

Huggies are designed to sit close to the ear — but the same size can look and feel completely different depending on your lobe. This guide helps you find your size in under a minute.

Step 1: Know your lobe size

Everyone's ears are different, so the best starting point is to measure your own lobe rather than guessing.

How to measure:

Hold a mm ruler against your ear with the zero mark at the centre of your piercing hole. Measure straight down to the bottom edge of your lobe. Note this number — it's your base measurement.

Step 2: Understand your preference

Once you have your base measurement, factor in where the piercing is and how you want the huggie to sit.

Piercing location

  • First lobe: your lowest piercing, usually needs the largest size
  • Second lobe: higher up, typically 2mm smaller than your first lobe
  • Third lobe/high lobe: closest to the cartilage, usually the smallest in your stack

Fit preference

  • Snug fit (hugs close to the ear): your measurement + 1mm
  • Loose fit (a little breathing room): your measurement + 2mm

If you already own huggies, check the inner diameter size on the product page and compare how they currently sit — that's the easiest reference point for what to adjust up or down.

Quick example

Your lobe measures 8mm:

  • Snug fit: 8 + 1 = 9mm huggie
  • Loose fit: 8 + 2 = 10mm huggie

If you fall between two sizes, always go with the larger one. 1mm makes a real difference in comfort but barely changes the look.

Step 3: Find your huggies

Building a stack? Start with your largest size at the first lobe and go 2mm smaller with each piercing above. This creates a naturally balanced, graduated look.
